My best friend.

Question Posted Wednesday August 11 2010, 7:33 pm

I have a best friend. We were friends since third grade. We are both now in tenth, I am a fifteen year old girl and he is a fifteen year old boy. He means so much to me, I love him like a brother. But everyone thinks we like each other. That boys and girls can't be as close as we are and not be in love. I just want your opinion on this, do you think that by the way we act, we seem "in love"?

We are both in the marching band and every time he marches by me, he and I would smile at each other. Everyday I bring him in a pack of crackers because he likes them a lot. We also text each other a lot. Sometimes with a purpose of finding something out, sometimes for no reason at all. We talk about anything, literally, anything. We talked about bugs once, which ones we liked and which ones we didn't. He is usually the one that is negative about things, he struggles with his confidence level. Every time he says something negative, I will always say something happy or positive and he would laugh so I know he's better. On the off chance I'm not in a good mood, he won't leave me alone until I tell him what's wrong, then I would apologize for dumping all of my problems and struggles on him and he would always say back that I don't have to apologize for wanting his help, that he wants to know what's bothering me and he wants to know how he can help. When he knows I am sad, he will play a song on his guitar for me because he knows I love that but he won't sing. He sings in front of his other friends that are girls and he even told me he performed at a party in front on boys and girls, yet he can't sing in front of just me..
I'm not sure if you are aware of the silly bandz? They are rubber bands in the shapes of animals or symbols. I gave him one of them and he wears it everyday. If I ever need help on homework, I would text him and he would ask which page, which problem, what part and he would help me immensely to the point that I understand the whole chapter.

He is such a shy person, he wouldn't tell anyone that he liked them unless he was moving to another country the day after. To answer my question, do you think everyone is right? Is there more than friend feelings there? Please don't answer back "Just talk to him" because we have talked about this and nothing goes anywhere. Thanks for any help!

Well , I can tell you guys are perfect for eachother from helping with confidence boost to smiling in band practice to texting randomly to helping eachother to all this wow , i'm really impressed. I think people are right, it seems you guys really are more then friends , think about it , why wouldn't he play for you on his guitar? when he did for everyone else? what about him wearing your bandz thing everyday... he seems dedicated and so do you. And not telling if he liked you or not a day before leaving the country, hm that's another hint. Maybe he doesn't want to say anything , maybe he doesn't want to ruin what you guys have built. It seems you guys are in love , but not really showing i , you guys or he does not realize it. When you talk to him , ask him more you have to make some questions that will lead it on. You guys seem so good for eachother.Good luck :)
