Alienware Good Or Bad? Should I get an AlienWare Laptop?

I have a question for computer people! lol For my 18th birthday my mom wants to get me the dells alienware laptop for gaming? Do you guys out there think that's really a good idea? What's really good about it an what really isn't? =(

Alienware laptops are pretty much more powerful than they need to be. If you plan on doing hardcore gaming, then yeah get one, if not, I wouldn't bother. They are also rather clunky and have high power consumption, so you would often be plugged in.
