Fearne answered Saturday January 29 2011, 8:07 am: Taking fibre capsules will not effect your metabolism. Your metabolism is the rate at which chemical reactions occur within your body, and so this affects how quickly you use up the nutrients within food. Fibre is not a nutrient which is digested, it merely passes though you, and so these capsules will only speed up the rate you digest food and will not affect how quickly you burn off fat or calories.
If you want to increase the amount of fibre you eat to become more healthy or possibly lose weight, it is much more effective and much more simple to eat high-fibre foods. This way, they fill you up and give you a healthy digestive system. Things like oatmeal/porridge, muesli, wholemeal bread and other wholegrain products are great for this. Hope this helps :) [ Fearne's advice column | Ask Fearne A Question ]

Just a note, from what I have found on the web, fiberSMART isn't meant to help you lose weight, but to help you with digestive problems such as constipation.
