I need some kind of job

Question Posted Wednesday July 14 2010, 11:53 pm

No one is hiring, I'm negative in the bank, and I'm ashamed of myself that I have been out of college for 3 years and no one wants me to work for them.

I've tried selling a book, nothing. Stores, nothing. temp agencies, ****ing nothing.

I'm starting to get suicidally depressed about this, and am starting to think that if I don't get some money soon, the only way I won't be a strain on my family is to wander off some desolate to starve to death.

male, 27

Keep following that chain downwards. Can't get a job through a temp agency? Apply at McDonald's, at Burger King, etc. Telemarketing agencies have a high turn-over rate as well, so they're usually looking. You're not looking for a career here, you're looking for anything. It won't look negative in the future; if anything, future employers will be impressed by the fact that you were able to go below your education level.

If that doesn't work, try odd jobs. Mow lawns, if you have a car, drive people.

In the meantime, there's no shame in applying for social assistance. I had to do it at one point when money really dried up. I guess what you would receive depends on where you live, but even a couple hundred a month can help.

i'm so sorry to hear that you feel this way. Unfortunately alot of people are going through the same struggles you are. The country is in a resetion. I need more information about you to answer this question. there could be a number of reasons why its hard for you to get a job.

1. Where do you live. There is a possibility that the city you're living in has a low unemployment rate to begin with.

2. Maybe when you go out on interviews your doing something wrong. Try to make eye contact with your interviewer. And speak with confidence.

3. Maybe there is something in you background that is preventing you from being hierd. Did you commit felony. What was the reason you left your last job?

4. Maybe you're over qualified. Employers won't take a chance on someone who seems overlly capable of doing the job, because they run the risk of having that person eployed only short term.

What your going through is tough. I've been there myself. But please don't be depressed and don't do anything stupid like taking your own life. I'm sure you family and friends that love you.

You have to put your self out there talk to your neighbor ask around the neighborhood maybe someone knows someone whos hiring. Send out your resume everyone And i do mean everyone. At the same time think about what kind of skills you posess. What do you like to do. And go out there and see who's hireing in that industry. Get a caree councelor the government give free career advice. Craigslist.org is always hireing. Look in the news paper for jobs. There has to be something somewhere When you find something take it no matter how much it pays no matter how degrading it is do it and it will just be a stepping stone to get what you want.
you mentioned you tried selling a book are you an author? People need writters all the time to right plays to re-write a novel There is a whole insustry for that research i don't know if you have a computer at home but research all your options there are all kinds of things going on you don't even know about.
I hope i helped you. Keep your head up.
