Alter a dress down a size

Question Posted Wednesday June 16 2010, 11:52 am

I bought this really beautiful dress but I've lost some weight already this summer and I'm down a good size if not more. The dress is now too loose and I won't be able to wear it like I wanted to unless I can get it fixed or something. Now, I know that people use to be able to go places and get their clothes tailored to suit them better but I don't know if anything like that exists now.

Can I get it downsized or something? Where would I go? How much would it cost? And what should I say to the person if there is a place that does this sort of thing? Just like it's too big or...what?

You should be able to go to any store that sells suits, ties and/or dresses. They usually have tailors in those places and if not they can direct you to someone that can. Also, around here there is a lady that owns a laundry place who tailors stuff for others. All they would really need to do is measure you and take it in to whatever measurements are needed.

PS Congrats on losing weight!!!!! :)
