There was a "ZZT!" sound and the outlet smoked...

Question Posted Saturday June 12 2010, 5:03 pm

Okay, I was on my computer, then I plugged in my air conditioner. The air conditioner plug start smoking like it fried. The plug-in on it smells burnt.

The one for my laptop snells funny too, but my laptop SEEMS to be working fine. It didn't smoke or make the zapping noise. I just unplugged it because it scared me.

Will my computer die now? Should I be worried and start putting my important files on a flash drive?

i suggest trying a different plug and just letting your laptop cool down sometimes the computer heats up to much and starts to smell a little wierd but i would definlty recommend saving things on a flash drive just to be on the safe side and if you think something is really wrong with your laptop take it into a computer store and get it checked out. Good luck :)
