Birth Control: Should I start taking my pill again as usual?

Question Posted Friday June 4 2010, 5:33 am

I have been on birth control pills for 3 months now. However in the last 2 weeks I have been unable to take them due to some medication I have been on. I am not currently having sex so this isn't a problem, but I think it may have messed up my periods as I am due on my period now and I haven't started. Should I start taking my pill again as usual?

Thanks <3

I would recommend calling your gynocologist and asking the nurse what you should do. In my opinion, you should be able to go ahead and begin taking them as usual and in about a month you should see your period getting back on track, but be sure to ask the nurse (or any nurse at a gynocologists office, incase you do not have one).

I never heard of any medicine you can not take with your Birth control pills? I have heard that antibiotics can lesson the effect. But answer to your question. There are hormones in BC pills, so it may have messed your cycle up a little. Be sure you are not pregnant even though you haven't had sex since you quit the pill. If there is some type of medicine that gives you a reason to not take your Birth Control, then don't. You may want to call your Doctor that put you on the pill. Good Luck sweetie!
