How do I get a Nike Sponsorship?

Question Posted Sunday May 30 2010, 7:30 am

Hi there, I'm 20 years old and from South Africa and would like to have a brand like nike or adidas sponsor me. I play action netball and was 1 of three nominated for the best six aside player in the world but I am currently the best six aside defender. We played tri-nations this year in South Africa and in two years time we go on tour to Australia. With these achievements that I've been working for, for a long long time now I am well known by all in the action netball sports category... The sponsorship would help me with my funds and will be good publicity for the brand. Please tell me what to do to get this sponsor?

Hello there,

There is a very excellent article on eHow regarding Nike Sponsorship:

... and here is what Adidas has to say about being sponsored by Adidas:

"Who do I speak to about sponsorships for a team, organization or athlete?

adidas receives many sponsorship requests from deserving teams, athletes, and organizations and we regret we are unable to respond affirmatively to every need. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for participation and competition in all sports for athletes on every level. Our affiliates are chosen because they embody the best of sports: teamwork, honesty, pride, personal accountability and discipline. For sponsorship requests in the U.S. please send proposals to the attention of Sports Marketing for the appropriate sports category, i.e., tennis, soccer, etc. at: adidas America 5055 N Greeley Ave. Portland, OR 97217 An adidas representative will contact you concerning your proposal. We appreciate your interest in adidas and congratulate you on your accomplishments."
