Stuck on repeat!

Question Posted Friday April 16 2010, 8:40 am

Every day I do the same exact thing, minor details change but it isnt the life I want to live. Every day I get closer and closer to just packing up and leaving everything. My family, school, friends, girlfriend. How do I bring some excitement into my life and break the chain that im stuck in?

The best piece of advice I ever received was 'if you don't like a situation, change it and if you can't change the situation, change your attitude.'

You don't say how far along in school you are but you have to remember that once you've finished, things will change. It might help to start thinking about what you're going to do next, whether that be in terms of colleges/universities or careers. If there's a particular area you're interested in, why not pursue some work experience in it? Even if it's unpaid, it'll be great experience and will look good to future employers. It will also give you a sense of purpose and you'll feel like you're actually getting somewhere. The same could also be said for volunteer work. You may think it sounds boring but you could find it very rewarding.

If you're that fed up with life that even your friends and girlfriend are boring to you, then it's time to make a change there. Perhaps it's time to reassess where your relationships with the people in your life? If you have friends who are bringing you down and making you miserable, don't be afraid to sever your ties with them and make some new ones. The same goes for your girlfriend.

Join a club, get a haircut, try something you'd never usually try, take up a new hobby. Pin point the areas in your life you'd like to change and work to make those changes.
