My mother has a strong fiery personality and will always be on top of things at all times, and I always wish I inherited that from her, but instead I got my dad's personality. Quiet, shy, very very nice, but very meek i guess.
And I hate it! I have a lot of confidence but when it comes to other people I can barely manage. I always am told that I am TOO nice. My boyfriend takes advantage of it and I always end up being the one apologizing in fights for no reason. Recently I have been fighting to get rid of it, stand up for myself more, be mean once in a while. But its SO hard. And I don't know how to do it because I say I will, but my problem is that I don't think most people are evil on purpose, and I understand their point of view, so its hard for me to stand up to them and be firm. I understand everyones reasoning I guess. I hate it though. I am tired of always backing down. How can I change????

Katlyn answered Thursday April 15 2010, 7:07 pm: Honeslty who cares what people say you are who you are and you cant chnage your personality to fit in if you totally feel like someone is taking advantage of this you need to just stick up for youself just stand up and say hey you cant do that and if you feel like its happening way to much then just dont trust people as much just stick with the people who do love you and know you and obviously if those people love you they wont take advantage of you and those who do kick them out of your life. Basically you cant change entirely but you can make a few adjustments just think things through when they happen and react and express youself once you start doing that you will find it easier but the first step is to do something about practice it in the mirror if you have to but dont let things just fly by because sooner or later those things will break you. GOod luck :D [ Katlyn's advice column | Ask Katlyn A Question ]
