Why do people eat a lot of fish & seafood during Lent?

Question Posted Monday March 22 2010, 11:11 pm

I have seen a lot of commercials recently with fish this and fish that. I know McDonald's had a special on their filet-o-fish sandwiches and meals and Wendy's had a new fish sandwich they introduced. A lot of places here started having fish specials on certain days of the week. Why is this a common practice? I don't understand what eating fish has to do with Lent?

I'm not sure, I found this link for you. It's from a religious perspective, but it's all I could find.

People aren't supposed to eat meat during Lent. Fish does not count as meat, so a lot of people end up eating a lot of fish.
