What's the default system update of the PSP 3000 when you buy it?

Question Posted Wednesday March 17 2010, 6:57 pm

I'm planning on buying a PSP 3000 so I could hack it for BACKUP PURPOSES. I just find it easier to have all my games in one place and stuff, no worries I don't plan on pirating. Anyways when you buy the PSP 3000 fresh out of the store anyone have an idea what's its starting update? I heard you have to keep it at 5.03 so it can be hacked and anything above it won't work and the 3000 model isn't downgradeable yet. So when I buy it will the update be lower than 5.03?

If you are buying a new one the stock firmware revision is going to be higher than that. 5.1, 5.22, 6.2, etc.

Some bundle packs still have old ones, with 4.21, but good luck finding one.

Best bet is to bye a used one from GameStop or someplace like that and verify the firmware revision before you purchase.
