Bearded Dragon Won't Eat

Question Posted Wednesday March 3 2010, 1:12 pm

I recently bought a pet bearded dragon about 3 months ago. He's a juvenile still and this past week he has stopped eating. He's also starting to look VERY thin. I want to try force feeding him something and i was wondering if i could give him yogurt or something mushy that i could just push into his mouth. Any other suggestions would be great i`m just really worried about him!

Also, i dont know if this could be the cause of him not eating but i recently added a red heat light to his cage and a new heat pad because he didn't have one before.

After some googling, people say that you should take it to the vet, obviousely! I say you try remove the red heat light and the heat pad? It makes sence-does it get better when taken away? if so, its probabaly that?

Also, people are suggesting "sweet potato baby food". and they say that you shouldnt force feed, but instead get a small NEEDLE-LESS seringe, and squeeze some on the edge of its mouth. This way, it can get a taste for it, and may start eating. Do not foce-feed it though.

However, you should take it to the vet- buying a pet is a responsibility, and if you cant live up to the responsibility of keeping a pet (which includes taking it to the vet) you shouldnt have one. sorry about that little lecture, and im not suggesting your a negligent pet owner, but i thought i'd add it for extra measure!

hope it works out :)
