Red bugs all over yard. (asking again)

Question Posted Friday February 26 2010, 12:02 am

Hi everyone. I asked this question yesterday but I forgot to put in a few details so the answers I was getting weren't exactly correct.

Ok, so firstly, yesterday there was like a million red bugs all over my backyard (on the grass), and there were a lot of white bugs that looked like they were mating & they were just a bit bigger than the red ones.
I know that these bugs are NOT some kind of ants or termites or love bugs.
I live in Victoria, Australia.
There were ants and beetles in the backyard too (not heaps of them though, just a normal amount) and they didnt seem scared or affected by the red bugs.

Last year I saw these bugs on a piece of wood in the backyard and they looked like they were eating it. We got rid of them with fly spray but they came back a while later.

We have tried spraying them with bug spray which does kill them, and then we put some boiling water on the grass near the backdoor so they wouldnt come closer. Then later we checked and they were nearly all gone (it was really weird because just before that there were thousands of them, then they dissappeared), the only ones we could see were hiding in clumps of grass all bunched together and I dont know where all the rest of them went.

They cant fly and the dont have the kind of shape of an ant or termite and they arent clover mites.

Do you think I should get an exterminator? Will it cose much money to get an exterminator? Do exterminaters charge you money even if they dont need to kill anything? Do you think these bugs are dangerous?

well for one thing the red bugs that you are talking about are called ladybugs and yes they do come out when it is hot weather and they are hard to get rid of, and yes they can bite. I don't know if an exterminator can help you on that matter they might be able to and i would say that yes they will charge you a house visit to see what kind of bugs they are. So good luck on getting rid of them.
