Motivated

Question Posted Sunday February 14 2010, 11:29 am

Hi. I'm 15, female. I have been watching the Olympics since they started and it really got me thinking. These people are my age, well 1 or 2 years older, and here I am not motivated just sitting on my couch. I want to go out and do something with my life. I mean, I do things, like sledding when it snows, I make some of my own clothing but I feel like I'm in the house to much. I mean, I read about Shaun White, whom I now love, and he is outside all day everyday, his mom said she barely sees him because he is outside all the time doing something. I want to be like that but I don't know what to do. I can't skateboard, or roller skate, considering it's winter time but what should I do? I want to get motivated, go outside and find something I love so I can finally say "I do __ and that is my passion." So can you guys just name things to help me get motivated and things I can do outside for long periods of time getting active? I want to make my parents proud, I know I have a 1 in 10000 chance of making it to the Olympics but I want to be proud of myself going out and finding something I LOVE to do, something that I come home from school, do my homework and run outside to say I'll be doing for the rest of the night. Please don't give me the "You're only 15, you have a while to find something you love doing." because in reality, I don't. Please help and God Bless.

Additional info, added Sunday February 14 2010, 11:34 am:
Also, something that isn't costly, like not "go snowboarding somewhere" because I don't have the money for that. I just need help finding something I can do for my teenage years. Shaun White travels the world and gets paid for doing what he loves, he has been pretty much everywhere, he is sponsored by 4 different companies and he loves what he is doing with his life, look at him, went pro skateboarder and the age of 13 and pro snowboarder at, like, 11. So please, just help me..

I totally understand what you are thinking about. You most likely won't make it to the Olympics, but thats okay! Its great that you want to be actice and start finding new things to do!

When it gets warmer:
go biking
LEARN to rollerblade
soccer
running!

WHenever!:
Go ice skating
dance
act
sing
join a play
sew
design clothes
make a website

Just a general tip:
Go to your community center and sign up for a class that involves something you have always wanted to do. EX: dancing, acting

This is all that i can think of now, but if you want more, inbox a question to me. But also give more information about what you like to do, It'd help to narrow down the choices and really hit the nail on the head with what you would be good at!!

Hope I helped!

its very mature to realize that you need to fix the ways your used too. even though its winter, you can still do lots of things that you love to do.

first things first, find out about any clubs or sports being held at your school, they are really fun and you make a lot of new friends who you can hangout with when your feeling like your home alone on the couch again, dont be afraid to ask people to hangout, its a good time.

sign up for a gym membership, most gyms have indoor and outdoor pools to swim in, you could start swimming and be in the 2024 olympics if you really wanted (; if you dont think youll go a lot, just go a few times and pay as you go.

try an indoor sport. like me, i play indoor soccer and i love it. im not necessarily the best player, but i love it and every game i play, i get better and better. even if your not good at something, try it, you might like it and you might be good at it.

go jogging outside when it gets a little warmer, or just bundle up with lots of layers and go for runs, its a great stress reliever and makes you in much better shape to do anything you want.
