bottled water vs tap water

is tap water the same as bottled water essentially?

Pretty much. As long as the tap water isn't brown and you let it run a little bit before drinking it, you'll be alright.

tap water is just as safe as bottled water, depending on where you drink it from. For instance, your kitchen will have clean tap water to drink from, which is just as good as bottled water. In restaurants, they have a law that forces them to get a fitration system so basically you are just paying for the plastic bottle.
