Well, the best answer I can give you is from analyzing the next line of the song..

"Along came a love, she had yearned for so long, oh she felt on fire"

This girl was young (body & mind) and looking for love, possibly for a really long time. She was just tired of looking and the days seemed to go by really slow and boring. She had nothing and waa tiring of the wait.. The days were long and it's basically just describing the situation using a metaphor. But then came a love, and she was excited and it brightened up her life and her days. :)

maybe they are talking about a girl who wishes she was young again, and pretends she is, when really shes older.
