depo provera shot, and periods

Question Posted Thursday December 3 2009, 6:52 pm

Okay so I got the depo provera birth control shot about 3 weeks ago. I would normally be getting my period in about a week. But my doctor told me that with the shot i would not get my period at all, just possibly some spotting. But right now i am feeling all the symptoms i feel the week before my period; cramps, bloating, etc. Is it normal to get your period after the 1st shot? Could these be signs of pregnancy? If i was to spot would it be in the time i normally get my period? I'm really worried. Oh and the only time my bf and I had unprotected sex he did not finish.

when i got the shot, i didnt get my period for two months, just slight spottin here and there. but by the third month i got it for 3 weeks !!! the shot effects everyone differently.

with birth control its common to feel like your gettin your period so dont worry. and spottin doesnt have to be the time you get your period. if you really feel like you could be pregnant go back to your doctor and ask for a test. but i think your fine hun :)

good luck!
