Is the IP BRAKE light different than the !P BRAKE light?

my 1994 GMC truck has a IP BRAKE light on so is that different than the !P BRAKE? it stops the same and makes no noises. thank you!

Hi there,

Same light function. If you don't have a dedicated ABS (anti-lock brakes) light, then it may indicate a problem there.

It may also be that your spring for releasing the parking brake lever back to the off position is worn out. When this happens, the spring pulls the lever back up, but not far enough to press the switch that lets the light know that the brake is off.

Probably best to have it checked out all the same. Being able to stop is a lot more important than being able to go. :-)
