Nooo. Don't talk about school like that hitler guy said. That's kinda lame. Talk about an event coming up, or something that you heard someone say, or just make a lot of eye contact and smile. That'll make him curious and get you stuck in his mind, and then maybe he'll say something to you. Or, if you don't know each other, just turn around and be like Hi! I don't think we've ever talked before..I'm [your name.] But remember to be positive and happy and smile!

Fart, really loud. sorry, I couldn't help myself. here's a good idea that doesn't involve flatulence:
as class begins, ask him if he did the homework, then ask him what he thought about it (this works in history/english classes, but in math or science, ask him if he found it hard/easy depending on the assignment) or after a test, ask him "so how do you think you did on the test?"
theres so many legitimate class topics that you can use to start the conversation.
