How to do this? It's really easy actually. All you have to do is choose the friends that you will be inviting. When you have done that ask each of your friends to choose a dish. This could be something that they are really good at making. Include desserts as well.
Then you guys can meet and make the food together. It's really fun and interessting to eat different foods.
You can invite them through facebook if you all have them. Or just call them and talk to them about it. If you plann early on then you should have no problem when the time comes.
You can also even do a movie night or a slumber party. And game nights are always fun. With tht emovie night you can plan a theme around that and like say watch all teh harry potter movies or something. It's pretty fun to do.

As for themes you could go 80's, hawaii, Fluro, Halloween type thing, eygypttian and if ur a twilight fan..Vampires!
Oh i thourght of another one! you could go out to a river/beach and camp or have your party there!!
