what does it mean when your period blood is brown?

If this is happening early in your cycle (a couple of days after your period) then its just old blood with normal discharge. That is why its brown and not red. If this is happening when you should be having your period and you are sexually active; then you should get a pregnancy test done. If not then you have nothing to worry about.

Usually nothing.
You could be nearing the end of it.
You have to remember it's not just blood, it's a mixture of things. :)
