There could be an underlying problem for this. Is it a bad habit or is it getting in the way of your life?

There is an anxiety disorder called Trichotillomania, which is characterized by the persistent and excessive pulling of one's own hair.

Your hair will grow out eventually; you're still young.

I had this problem when I was little, as did my auntie. In her case, it was so bad she had to get all her hair cut off. Luckily for me, that horror story stopped me before it got that far.

It will grow back, but you need to find a way to stop doing it. One method is to try and distract yourself with something else, like twiddling your thumbs or snapping an elastic band against your wrist.

When I was trying to stop biting my nails, I used to file them so far down that there was nothing to bite. Once I'd broken the habit, I started growing them because I was no longer tempted to bite them. Perhaps you could try something similar with your hair? Tying your hair up or wear a hat or a headband could work as you won't be able to get at your hair properly. If it works, once you've stopped doing it you can start wearing it down again and growing it properly.
