getting started for my first place

Question Posted Monday October 19 2009, 1:49 pm

My boyfriend and I (were both seniors in high school) plan to move into an apartment together after we graduate in May. Neither of us have jobs yet but plan to get one soon. I need help figuring out how to manage our money so we have enough to get an apt and buy stuff for our home. Websites and any advice would be great. Thank you so much!

If you don't have jobs, it's going to be pretty much impossible to get a fully furnished nice place. If both of you get jobs right now and save like crazy, you may be able to get a place in about five years.

Hopefully you both plan on going to college, and that's going to be expensive. So getting a place is not in your best interest right now.

However if you are dead set on it, an income-based apartment would be your best shot. Some are actually nice, so don't let the name fool you. Walmart, target, home depot, and websites like that would be ideal for your furnishings.

Good luck, you'll probably need it :)
