When is birth control effective

Question Posted Saturday October 3 2009, 11:46 am

If you get the pill and start taking it everyday like you are supposed to how long will it take to effectively prevent you from pregnancy? Do you have to wait a whole menstrual cycle, or does it work right away?

You should wait a whole menstrual cycle, just incase an egg dropped down and is in your uterus waiting to be fertilized. Once there cycle is over, there won't be any more eggs. So it is best to use other protection for the firts month.
After that, as you know, the pill is only 98% affective, but those are great odds.
Don't skip any days, that could be a problem.

good luck
and kudos to you for being so responsible.

Michele
