What causes earthquakes?

Question Posted Wednesday September 30 2009, 3:18 pm

It seems to me like more and more places are having earthquakes lately and I was wondering what causes earthquakes and if there was something we could do to prevent earthquakes? Are there places more vulnerable to earthquakes anyway? :\

Earthquakes are caused by the fault lines shifting & moving. There's no way to prevent this. The only thing we can really do is be more prepared for them whenever they may strike. All the places that sit on fault lines are very vulnerable. California has a high Earthquake count, so does Asia. It's pretty unavoidable. It's a sad thing, but it's a natural disaster that's out of our control.

There are thousands of fat men living under the Earth's crust. When they get hungry, their fat asses start banging around until we feed them their lard and cake batter.

theres no way to prevent them. its from the plates in the earth shifting. places more vulnerable are near fault lines and near the ring of fire, from califorina and west to asia.
