House Building Resources?

Question Posted Monday September 21 2009, 12:58 pm

I will be getting about 5 acres of land from my parents' subdivision (they're selling the farm and moving out) and I would like to put a house on it. I have already applied for a road access permit so I can build a road. However, while I'm waiting for that to go through, I was wondering if anyone has ideas for resources or tips on building a rural home that would be sustainable?

Thanks!

check out using shipping containers. its recycling the ones left here in droves by the despicable economic practices of the United states and china. they're cheap, great material, and can be stacked to make ridiculously high buildings. google "shipping container homes", there's a pretty big movement behind it, and they look great if done right.
