Transferring A&M I'm interested in transferring to Texas A&M from another TX university, but I'm really nervous... I always wanted to go there but was wait listed and ended up at another university and I'm not at all happy here. I really want to transfer, and I have the grades, but I'm really nervous. Tradition is really important to A&M and I feel like I'm not gonna fit in as well there because I don't know what's going on and everyone else will have been there for two years. I know it's not ALL about the traditions and I'll find my place eventually, but I'm just nervous about feeling like a reject. So does anyone have any advice for transfer students? especially people from a&m? I'm just really on the fence about transferring and I want to, I'm just nervous!
thanks

As an experienced transfer student I can understand your hesitations. No one wants to be the new kid at school. Only this is college. People, especially in Texas (used to live there), are usually very welcoming. If this is where you really want to go, make sure you visit the campus a few times to get a feel for the vibe there. Make sure it's still your #1 choice, it may have changed and that's ok too. The best advice is to get involved. Clubs, Organizations, Greek, etc...meet people that have common interests. If there isn't a club you like then start a new one. Be friendly and outgoing and you'll have a whole new group of friends before you know it. Transfer centers on campus offer a lot of resources too, you can meet other transfers here too. Be sure to attend all the orientations, another great resource. Go forward with confidence and it will all work out great! Good Luck!
