Question Posted Friday September 4 2009, 12:33 pm

im 17 and ive been dating my guy for 3 years. he's been my best friend through everything and i honestly love him alot. i want to have sex with him and i know hed stay with me if something like a baby came along but i reallllyy don't want that, since we're only 17 and seniors in high school. i plan on getting on birth control soon and obviously we're going to use a condom and hes gonna pull out. and we're gonna do it right when i get off my period. so my questions are how long should i wait after i get on birth control? and are there any other precautions?

you should specify what birth control you're going to get because it's different for every different kind of birth control.

also if you want to be extra extra safe you could use spermicide too. You put it inside you before you have sex and it stops the sperm from moving.

Hello im 18/f and i've been on birth control for about 2 years now. When i went for my appointment they told me to wait about a month. Just to make sure it was fully in your system. It doesnt matter when you have sex the risks are still there. People can even get pregnant when they're on their period and have sex. But you sound like you got a good head on your shoulders and you know what to do. So i would suggest waiting a month and then go from there :)
