so i'm thinking about buying a laptop... since i need one for college, i don't want to carry a huge one, just a regular sized one or a mini laptop. what brand would you recommend the most, the ones that barely crash and stuff? i can't do apple or mac, because they start at $999 which is something i can't afford. please & thank you!

dells seem to be built cheaper compared to toshibas and hps to me they are the best two at my schoo they have dells and they are no where as good. but then again some people sware by them. apples are pretty much good for nothing i never cared for them they are like a toy i dont like the way they are set up.each computer has its advantages and disadvantages its just like buying a car or home you go with what you feel.
here are some of my choices.

- i would go with this one. its basically what i have but in hp which was what i was going to get but they were sold out. it has a webcam wireless conection more then enough memory good graphics for movies or games fast speeds not to heavy (a little more then average but its worth it) very nice color and very nice display i personally recommend this computer as i said i have it but in toshiba instead of hp same processor size and everything the only thing is that has a cam and more memory then mine so its even better.
K3587 answered Friday July 31 2009, 11:25 pm: I suggest a mini. The smaller screen makes for longer battery life, so you can make it through a class without having to bug everyone for a place to plug it in. You can get a decent one for close to $300. It won't be the highest-end computer, but it will certainly do everything you'd need for school. As for brand, I prefer HP. My girlfriend has a Dell Inspiron that she's had trouble with in the past. At work, it seems to be the brand most turned in for service issues. [ K3587's advice column | Ask K3587 A Question ]

I have never had a dell crash and the oldest one my family owns at the moment is close to 10 years old and still works perfectly. The prices are decent. Not sure how much my laptop cost because I got it as a present but I got an Inspiron, they're the ones you can see commercials for with all the different colors (mines pink btw..lol) and I absolutely love this thing and its really fast. I know people complained about Vista but I have it and really like it. Its convenient and it can do a lot. Dell has 10 in minis now too...also in the commercials with all the colors.
