I want a camera like the Nikon d-40, without spending more than I can afford. Help me find one?
i want to get a camera like the nikon d-40. can anybody tell me what kinds of cameras are similar to this model? i dont want to spend much more than $500 though. thanks!!

The Nikon D-40 is a really nice camera, and you can get one for under $500 these days. Just have a look at this Google price comparison page:

... but have you considered the Nikon D-60? It is a better camera and can be had for around the same price. You can buy a D-60 for around $500... but if you notice, the Nikon camera accessories are very spendy and a lot of the digital SLR cameras in this price range sell for half a grand without even a lens!
Some camera shops have complete digital SLR camera kits for sale with all the accessories you need to get going and be happy with your new photo-cannon (not to be confused with Canon, sorry for the accidental pun) for one price.
