class rank

Question Posted Sunday July 19 2009, 10:08 pm

okay this may be a stupid question but i was trying to figure out my class rank and all i did was divide my position by the number of students right? i mean i don't know how else to figure it out. But i got that i was in the top 5% of my class and that didn't seem right. So my rank is #28 out of 488. So does that mean I'm in the top 5%???

You are in the top 6% of your class.
28 divided by 488 is 0.0574 and that multiplied by 100 is 5.74%.
Great job on your academic performance!

Being in the "top 5%" means your rank is somewhere between 1 and 28, for a class of 488 people.

Normally, when they give the percent, that's where you actually lie on the scale.

So, I think it's safe to say that you're 28 or maybe 27?

Ask your counselor, but the top 5% is REALLY good. That's something to be proud of =]
