getting healthy

Question Posted Saturday July 18 2009, 12:08 am

Hey im 18/f and ive decided that i need to lose some weight and get into shape. The only problem is that i have NO! motivation at all i say im going to do stuff but never do. Im not fat but i have some extra "chubby" on my thighs and i've been starting to notice on my stomach. I also drink a lot of pop. Im 5'6 and 145lb. I know i need to stop eating junk food and drink water and not pop. What are some things though that i should look for on a nutritional label? Im comletely new at this so any advice would really help! Also can anybody give me some things i could try to motive myself? Thanks a bunch!

So I'm 5'7" and currently 194... that sounds awful, I know, but really it's been an improvement since I started about 41 lbs heavier this year. I've really been trying to trim down (to about your weight, actually).

Anyways, some tips on the food... If you can, drop soda. Diet soda can actually make you gain weight because of all the sodium... and the fake sugar isn't good for you since it can make the body think it needs to try and hold on to any and all REAL sugar... there's biology there to explain it, but I doubt you wanna know the chemical formula for sugar (C12H22O11)...

Look for high fiber things, low fat, low sodium and low calories. Your caloric intake (including what you drink) shouldn't drop below about 1500 cals since you're only 18 (stays true until you're 21). Raw veggies are something you can eat a lot of and still lose weight eating... low cal content, along with rice cakes and things.

Your stoamch os roughly the size of your fist... you shouldn't REALLY eat more than that in one sitting.

If you split your meals from 3 to 6 throughout the day (half sized, meals of course) it keeps the metabolism up and you'll lose...

In general, though, you're at a normal weight for your height. If you're just worried about a little chub, then I suggest just hitting the gym. You'll get rid of fat and gain some muscle, which burns more fat. If you hit the gym you should realize that you'll gain muscle weight though. That's because if (o) is a lb of muscle ((((O)))) is a pound of fat. Fat takes up more room.

I recommend just hitting the gym... or running.
