what does i mean when someone says oh i went to third base with them or oh i got to second base with them. like i know what all the way is but what do the rest of the bases stand for?

The way I've always understood it, the bases referring to how far you get with a girl. I've never heard a girl say, oh I got to such and such base. This is how I understand it:
1st: kissing
2nd: feeling up the boobs
3rd: fingering
4th: homerun.

1st base: holding hands, hugging, kissing, making out, etc.
2nd base: making out, going under clothes, etc.
3rd base: sex, etc.

i was taught that 1st base is kissing/holding hands, 2nd base is making out/feeling up/handjob, like regular foreplay. 3rd base is oral sex, and of course, 4th base is sex.

I think second base is regarded as french kissing,and third as making out and messing around
