Where can I buy Polaroid film for the SX-70 sonar Land camera?
Question Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 4:41 am
So I'm a little late but I just learned that Polaroid has stopped production of their instant film last year. I also just recently bought a Polaroid SX-70 Sonar Land camera for a project I'm working on.
I was wondering where would be the best place to get a lot of the film that the SX-70 uses or if another company is still continuing to make the film.
One more thing. Even if you don't respond to this, please check out [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and write to the companies about why we want(NEED) to save the film.
Every person helps.
... PolaPremium has basically everything that is available on the world Polaroid film market, all in one place.
Yes, there won't be any new film from Polaroid, but that doesn't mean your SX-70 Sonar is going to be idle any time soon. Why? Because the people behind this BOUGHT the last Polaroid film factory and are getting tooled up to produce brand new film for your camera!
Can you believe this? Seriously? I love Polaroid film and cameras, I really do, but I had no idea that there were people so dedicated to keeping the Classic Poloroid Land cameras supplied with film forever... but that is their stated goal over at:
Edwin Land (the inventor of instant photography) was a ridiculously bright man. This project was named for something he said:
"Don't undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible" -- Edwin Land
... Kinda like running Advicenators. :-)
But seriously, this is your best bet for film.
You can buy it on eBay, but if it hasn't been stored cold, your chances of success will vary wildly. Better to buy properly stored Polaroid film from someone who cares about the future of YOUR artistry.
