STD Testing

Question Posted Wednesday May 27 2009, 1:03 am

Can you still get tested for gonhorrea and chlamydia after five years? Would it still show up in a test, if positive? I have only had one sex partner (several years ago)...

Additional info, added Wednesday May 27 2009, 2:48 am:
The condom broke, and I took Plan B. I did get tested, but from a free clinic (with numbers handed out, instead of names)...I would be a lot more comfortable going to a gyno..

Yes it would still show up! You usually have to worry about it showing up a couple of months after unprotected sex, because it usually takes a while for a person to get infected with gonhorrea and chlamydia.. but five years. Definately. You should see the gyno every 6 months for a pap smear and std check. Usually when someone is infected with either std, the pap smear comes out irregular. I suggest planned parenthood they are very good about making you feel comfortable, letting you know about your health and the price is pretty affordable! :)

If you did take a test now, and was left untreated, it can be still positive.

You should contact your local social worker agency to find out how to see a Gyno for little to no cost.
