For my birthday

Question Posted Saturday May 23 2009, 2:32 pm

Well I'm a really good driver, i've finished drivers ed & everything, I just have to wait till my sixteenth birthday which is october, which I know is a while from now.. But I like to think ahead. My mom got a new vehicle for her birthday, so my dad took her old one, and now I have my dads, it's a 2003 Isuzu Rodeo, which is great and all, I know many people dont even have vehicles and I should be greatful, which I am. But I really really really want a Mazda3 like 2007, not even new. But I know if I ask them they'll freak out and get all mad. I really want that car, Id do like anything to get it. So are there anyways you think I could persuade my parents? I'm definitely getting a job. So they wanted to give me money but I don't even want that cause I can get money with a job. So please help

You want a 2007 car for your birthday? Unless your family makes quite a bit of money, then expecting a car like that for your 16th birthday is a little ridiculous.

You've answered your own question, you're lucky to have a car in the first place. Myself and plenty of my friends would do anything to have ANY car. 2007 is still pretty new and it will be expensive, so of course your parents are going to freak out, especially in the current climate. You would have to save up for a very long time in order to afford a car from the wages of a part time job at your age.

If you are absolutely set on getting this car, then perhaps look into trade-in schemes or think about selling your current car. That way you'd have to pay less for the car you want.

Remember though, a car is a car, if it gets you from A to B without any problems then be content.
