We rescued 2 new born kittens in fall, the on was infested with fleas. It has been fixed and had its shots, but it has tapeworm that no over the counter medicine has been able to get rid off. I work in a Pharmacy, what anti-biotic would the vet prescribe for the 8lb cat to get rid of tape worm? thanks for your time.

you'll have to ask the vet but the first thing that popped into my head was vinagar ?? idk but if it doesnt go away the only thing is to operate....:( ]
Hi there,
I am not a medical professional, be advised.
Tapeworms aren't bacteria. With that in mind, an anti-biotic doesn't seem like it would do much of anything to it.
There is an over the counter tape worm killer / remover for cats and kittens:
Tape Worm Tabs:

The goody in these is called: "Praziquantel" and it is supposed to be very good at what it does.
Please pay strict attention to the dosing instructions.
If you have already tried this drug, and it did not work, you should take the cat to the vet. De-wormers aren't very expensive. This is not worth risking the life of your cat over, right? :-)
Happy de-worming! ]
