whats my problem? cant even ask him to hangout..

Question Posted Thursday May 14 2009, 11:58 pm

18- female

i'm not the quite girl, i'm one who likes to go out and do things and i have alot of confidence and a high self esteem BUT there is one problem with me, i am SO SO SO scared of getting rejected, about anything. yeah i know, who isnt afriad of getting rejected but my phobia is horrible. i can't even text one of my good guy friends (who i also have a crush on) to ask if he wants to hang out because i'm worried he will be like "well i'm going to do this..." even though we had this big talk and he was like well if you want to see me just tell me and i was like well of course i want to see you since i dont get to anymore and he was like alright just let me know when! and thats the problem, i can't get the courage to even text him and be like lets hang out tonight! or what are you doing tonight? because i'm scared he will already be doing something or has plans which will then make me feel dumb. i'm just like that, i hate asking people to hang out. what's my problem? why cant i just ask him to hangout? AGH it's so annnoying.

I've had this problem, don't worry your not the only one. Think about it this way though. Asking if he wants to hang out is not an awkward question. If he has plans he'll tell you, it's really not a big deal if you think about it. I mean if someone asked you if you wanted to hang out it's not awkward is it? You just tell them "yeah let's hang out" or "sorry i have plans can i take a rain check on that?" Once you ask him to hangout, you'll see it's not that bad and then you'll start feeling more at ease. Well good luck with everything. Hope I helped, take care now.

It sounds like you're just afraid of awkward situations. It's not like you're afraid that he's going to reject you. It's like you're afraid he's already going to be doing something and then it will be like ohh. well.. what do I say next?

You should text him and say, "Hey, we should hang soon. I'm not doing anything this week, got any ideas?"
That way you're not asking anything specific enough to get rejected. Just type it in, close your eyes, and hit send. You'll never get to hang out with him if you don't do it. And it really sounds like he wants hang out! If you send him a general text like that, he'll be able to take it from there as to when or where you guys should hang out.

Good luck!
