Stretching

Question Posted Wednesday May 13 2009, 10:49 pm

So everyday I like to stretch to get loose. I usally spred out my legs some I stretch down to my right leg, the middle, and then the left. But when I go down to my left leg I feel this weird pain in the back of my left knee. What do you think could be causing this? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

You probably have a tight hamstring.
It's definitely not a big deal.
To stretch it, put your right foot pretty far in front of your left, then bend your right knee, while pushing your left heel into the ground.
You'll know when you're stretching the hamstring right because you'll feel it.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, because I'm not a doctor or anything, but I think I might be able to help you. I've been a cheerleader for 10 years, and a dancer for 16, so I know the pains of everywhere on the body. I'm also not sure what causes it, but I do know what you're talking about. Something that should help:

When you stretch on your left side, do the same thing, just bend your knee so that you are half-way in the criss-cross sitting pose thingy. When you stretch, push you're gonna have to push harder because you won't stretch as well, but it will help.

And if the pain continues for more than a couple of days of stretching like that, you should go see a doctor. They'll tell you what's wrong, and help you out.

Good luck!
