Usually the counseling center, or main offices in schools have them. You just need to ask. If they don't have one, go to town hall. You need to fill out the application, have your parents sign some parts, & you need a recent physical & then you need your doctor to sign & then you hand it in. You can get your permit right there when you hand it to them. That's what the lady at my highschool told me when I went.
Not a lot of places hire 16 year olds, but I know places like Target, or a grocery store will. You can also try some of the stores at the mall, or some fast food places. [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]

There's a lot of places that hire 16 year olds. I worked at a few places when I was 16, like Target, CVS, McDonalds (sucked), and local amusement parks.
You're best bet is to go into grocery stores/restaurants that are now hiring, because they're always looking for new people to hire. Also, I would suggest that you start applying this week. Since it's almost summer a lot of people your age are going to look for jobs sometime now & you may have a hard time finding one if you wait too late!!
