what are the implications of a 26 year old guy dating an 18 year old girl? i know its not illegal but is it okay, acceptable, could it ever work out? what if love was involved?
Darby answered Thursday May 7 2009, 12:15 am: It all depends on the individual people. It works for some people. Others it doesn't. As the person below me said, most 18 year olds are at different points in their lives that 26 year olds. That doesn't go to say that you can't be supportive and understanding of where each other is at and continue to grow together, at different places. I don't think it's unacceptable. If you really care about the guy, give it a try.
TheTruth answered Thursday May 7 2009, 12:05 am: It really depends on the situation. The most common reason why it's frowned upon is not necessarily because of the age difference but rather because both people are probably at very different points in their lives. An 18 year-old should be headed off to college and thinking about their future. Whereas a 26 year-old should be done with that and moving forward with their lives. I'm not going to say it could never work out because anything is possible, but think about how many relationships fail today even when things seem to be perfect in every way. Consider it, but I don't think it's unacceptable. [ TheTruth's advice column | Ask TheTruth A Question ]
