Install Tomato, DD-WRT, or X-WRT on your router. I recommend them in that order.

Read the instructions *very* carefully. If the software doesn't support your router, you will ruin it permanently.

After installing that special firmware, look for a setting called "transmit power" or "wireless power". Increasing this number will make the radio signal put out by your router stronger, but it will also reduce the life of your router. 84mW is the maximum recommended power. Anything above that could burn out your router.

If that still doesn't make the signal strong enough, you can buy another wireless router and put it into "repeater" or "WDS" mode. Give it the correct settings, place it midway between you and the other router, and it'll repeat all of the signals the other router puts out. Since you are in difficult conditions, you might have to combine this with the transmit power trick.
