You do have to enter your phone number to use it, but trust me, it's safe. It's been around for a few years now and because my cousin and his friend created the website, and they're geniuses!
I'm not sure of any other mobile sites other than those you mentioned, but most of them probably require you enter your number since it's a mobile site.
