The morning after pill (Plan B) is essentially a very high dose of birth control. The main way it works is by preventing the release of an egg if one has not already been released. It is not an abortion pill as it will not terminate an existing pregnancy nor will it harm an existing fetus. It does not flush out your uterus. Bleeding before your next period can be a side effect of the plan B and is not abnormal.

Plan B is an emergency contraceptive only. If you are sexually active you should consider going on a regular form of birth control. If you have a local Planned Parenthood office they can help you with acquiring birth control, and they can also answer any other questions you may have about the Plan B.

What the morning after pill does is forcibly flush out your uterus. That would explain the new period... probably accompanied by some seriously painful cramps, based on my friends' experiences with it.

As for your other question, it all depends on who you are. Religious fundamentalists believe that as soon as an egg is fertilized, it is a person, so they may call it abortion. Personally, I think that flushing 4 cells out of your body isn't killing a person.
