You can do something called a V sit up. It involves you keeping your feet off the ground, and then bringing your upper torso, and legs up in to the air at the same time, and trying to touch your feet with your hands. Make sure not to bend your knees while doing this, and make sure to keep your feet off the ground until you're done your rep (I would recommend starting with 3 reps of 10, with about a 30 second break in between each).

As for foods, drink lots of water for starters. Avoid excessive alchohol, and try to cut back on caffeine, since they both take water out of your system, which you're body needs to function properly. Also, eat peanuts, as they are known to increase the body's metabolism.
