well, first of all, let me just point out that i've been struggling with an eating disorder for almost a year now. But, finally, I'm getting some help. The thing is, that I have to follow a meal plan, for two weeks. I can't leave my meal plan, and if you've ever had an eating disorder, I think you can understand why. After these two weeks are over, or on the designated days that I'm allowed to be out of my meal plan, I can go out to eat, and have a better idea of what I can eat without feeling worried or anxious. But, right now, I just really want to stick to my meal plan because that's where I feel "safe." The thing is, at work, people are always ordering out, and giving me things to eat. In my house, their always cooking more things, it's like a restaurant in here every day because we cook for so many people, like neighbors, and other family members. People are always inviting me to go out to lunch, or to dinner. But, I can't just tell them I have an eating disorder and explain to them why it's important that I follow my meal plan. It's only for two weeks, and until I'm done following it, I can't move on to the next step. So, what can I tell people? How can I ensure that I'm following it for the next two weeks without interruptions. If you can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it! Thank you and God bless you. Vivienne answered Friday April 10 2009, 10:04 pm: i understand completely. i have been in the same situation. the best thing to do is politely decline, perhaps suggesting a time to go out to eat at a later date (once you can deviate from the meal plan.) its totally ok to simply say you are busy, or already made plans if you dont want to share your private information. you could also invite people over to your place to have food that fits with your meal plan, if your worried about seeming weird.
