you may have just bought the domain name such as www.google.com
but you need a place to host your files and then link the domain name to that server. Go on ulmb.com its a free great place to store files for your website, there's a section on it where you can link your domain name to it.

It depends on what company you bought it from. Try going to that company's web site & see if there's an option for you to sign in & edit your site. Most sites don't allow you to edit it by going directly to the site, you have to go through your hosts site (usually) & edit it from there. If you still can't figure it out, try visiting the help section of the site you purchased the domain from.
