Camera USB cord

Question Posted Thursday April 2 2009, 8:51 pm

I have an orange Olympus Stylus 830. It has 8.0 megapixels. I've had this camera for less than a year [and received it as a birthday present] and have already lost the usb cord. I've googled where I could buy another one, but I'm not having any luck. I'd REALLY rather not buy it online [I'd rather go to a store so I can see before I buy it that it fits my camera.] because my little port on my camera is a very unique shape.

I wouldn't even worry about it, because my printer has the little slots to just put your memory card straight in, but my camera memory card is so small, it doesn't even fit.

Help?

Hi there,

If you would rather buy it in a retail store, I understand, but the data cable (USB) for a Stylus 830 is far from unique and very easy to find on eBay. Here is a search:

... I would do one of the free shipping ones, personally.

If you look in a description, you will see why the cable is so cheap:

The USB data cable fits:

C-series C-5500 Sport Zoom, C-series C-7000 Zoom, D-series D-425, D-series D-435, D-series D-545 Zoom, D-series D-595 Zoom, D-series D-630 Zoom, Evolt series E-330, Evolt series E-410, Evolt series E-500, Evolt series E-510, FE series FE-120, FE series FE-130, FE series FE-140, FE series FE-200, mju 710, mju 800, mju SW 725 SW, SP series SP-310 UZ, SP series SP-320 UZ, SP series SP-350 UZ, SP series SP-500 UZ, SP series SP-510 UZ, SP series SP-550 UZ, SP series SP-560 UZ, SP series SP-700, Stylus 1000, Stylus 1200, Stylus 500, Stylus 600, Stylus 700, Stylus 720 SW, Stylus 730, Stylus 740, Stylus 750, Stylus 760, Stylus 780, Stylus 810, Stylus 820, Stylus 830, Stylus Verve, Stylus Verve S, Stylus SW 770 SW, Stylus SW 790 SW

... and others!

So you see, you are perfectly safe to get that cable on-line, as it is dirt common to Olympus digital cameras with USB ports.

As for the memory card, there is a microSD to SD-Card adapter that will let you plug right in.

If you need a local place, you should call the big electronics stores, Best Buy for example, and see about the cable. The odds of anyone there being able to help you reliably over the phone are pretty slim, but you can give it a try.

Please also note that if they tell you they don't have a cable for an your brand of digital camera, don't be discouraged, the cable may look very unique in shape for a USB cable, but it isn't. It isn't exclusive to Olympus cameras either, so a trip in with camera in hand will probably be required.

Happy shooting!
