Tips on how to get a job as a parapro (teachers aide).
Question Posted Tuesday June 9 2009, 1:10 am
I am about to go take a test to be certified as a paraprofessional (4/9)in the state of Georgia. I was just wondering if anybody had any tips on how to get a job as a parapro in any schools. Also if you or someone you know have taken the test, how hard/ easy is the test?
Thanks for any thoughts or recommendations you may have.

Praxis 1 and 2 contian mostly math, english, and reading questions but they don't go very high maybe tenth grade. Praxis three that is required for certification is mostly questions on education. Make sure you know about disabilities and how you would handle them in a classroom. Also discipline in a classroom is emphasized. Books on professional principles and excpetionalities and diversities are very helpful. Make sure that you have samples of your work from college or anything to show them. Interviewers love to see how you operate like if you are organized, professional, and dress in appropriate attire. Relax and answer their questions honestly. If they ask you have any questions have some. IF you do not, they will assume if there is a serious problem in a classroom, you won't be able to handle it.
